Frequently Asked Questions
How do you decide on which therapies or coaching techniques to use?By assessing your case history and identifying your personal goal, I will discuss the various options that will be available to you, providing a rationale for each suggestion made. Based on that information, together we can decide which protocol/s to include within your programme.
Will I be required to do additional activities outside of each session? If it is beneficial to the type of therapy you are receiving e.g. CBT, home activities can be provided to re-enforce your personal programme. This will provide you with an opportunity to develop the changes required in your everyday life, enabling you to reach your goal. The added bonus of this approach is that you will save money as you progress through the programme at a quicker pace.
How many sessions will I need?Everyone is different and the number of sessions required will be guided by the assessment made during your initial consultation. Some individuals only require a few sessions, whereas others may need longer term support. Financial restrictions may also influence the number of sessions that you can attend and we can discuss the most appropriate approach to suit your needs. What is involved in the initial consultation? You will have the opportunity to talk to me about what is going on for you right now and how you are feeling; a chance to be heard and to tell your story. Background information is collated and a therapy goal is usually identified. Expectations of the therapy process will be reviewed and any questions that you might have will be answered. It is essential that you feel comfortable and confident about working with a therapist of your choice.
"Susan has been very understanding from the very start of my treatment and put me at ease straight away. I was quite sceptical but as I started to improve my confidence grew and with Susan's support I was able to move forward. I have my life back!" V Wren
